CW5 Shawn Schmidt

Chief Warrant Officer Five Shawn R. Schmidt is a native of Holts Summit, Missouri.
Chief Warrant Officer Five Schmidt enlisted in the Missouri Army National Guard in 1990 as a 63W Heavy Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic and with obtaining multiple maintenance related MOSs and climbed up the ranks to Staff Sergeant.  In 2006, he attended and graduated from the Army Warrant Officer School (WOCS) at Fort Rucker, Alabama and received his Warrant Officer appointment in 2006. 
 
Chief Warrant Officer Five Schmidt's assignments after his appointment to Warrant Officer include: Unit Maintenance Technician, 1221st Transportation Company; Battalion Maintenance Warrant Officer, 835th CSSB; Brigade Maintenance Warrant Officer, 70th Troop Command; Brigade Maintenance Warrant Officer, 35th Engineer Brigade, Command Maintenance Discipline Program Team Chief, Joint Force Headquarters; Ordnance Warrant Officer Branch Manager, Joint Force Headquarters.

During these assignments he served as the National Guard Bureau Region V Chair for the Army Award for Maintenance Excellence and National Guard Bureau Region V Chair for the Maintenance Advisory Sub-Group. His prior enlisted service assignments were with the 1035th Maintenance Company and the 835th Combat Support Battalion.

Chief Warrant Officer Five Schmidt has been a Title 32 Dual Status Technician with the Missouri National Guard since 2000.  His array of technician assignment include: Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic, Equipment Specialist, Equipment Specialist Supervisor, Allied Trades Supervisor and CSMS Foreman.
 
Chief Warrant Five Schmidt’s deployments include Operation Iraqi Freedom, Kuwait (2003-2005), Operation Enduring Freedom/Spartan Shield/Operation Inherent Resolve with duty in Kuwait/Iraq/Afghanistan (2017-2018). Chief Warrant Officer Five Schmidt has received several military awards including the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal with One Bronze Service Star, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Bronze Hour Glass Numeral #2, Meritorious Unit Commendation (2), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign star (2), Overseas Service Medal with numeral 2 Device, Army Service Ribbon,  Non-Commissioned Officer Development Ribbon with numeral 3, Army Reserve Overseas Training Ribbon with numeral 5, Missouri Commendation Ribbon 6 Award, Missouri Long Service Ribbon (5), Missouri Expeditionary Ribbon, Missouri State Emergency Ribbon 3 Award, Missouri Basic Training Ribbon, Louisiana Meritorious Service Medal,  Missouri Iraq Campaign Medal and Missouri Governor’s Unit Citation Ribbon.

Chief Warrant Officer Five Schmidt is currently serving as the State Command Chief Warrant Officer (CCWO) since 1 July 2024.
